Based at the music conservatory by the University in Agder, Arkentype produced, recorded and made their debut album “Disorientated” by themselves. After sending it to Daniel Bergstrand and George Nerantzis (Meshuggah, In Flames ++) at Dug Out Productions in Sweden for mixing and mastering, their debut album was released by Crime Records in 2015.
After releasing just small video clips and photos during the recording of their album “Disorientated”, they got booked to the metal festival “Southern Discomfort”. With the release of the music video for the single “Ashes and Dirt”, the bands journey for world domination had begun, and about 7 months of gigs after their album release the band found themselves touring with HAKEN, SPECIAL PROVIDENCE and Rendezvous Point.
Having toured Europe Arkentype was silent for a while after guitarist Simen and vocalist Kevin quit the band. Entering 2018 however the group introduced new members and the start of a new era for Arkentype – and the announcement of their second studio album.
Genre wise their music is best described as Progressive Metal, but the band themselves does not see this as a limit, and goes way outside the genre. Mixing the “new” progressive metal sound with their personal influences and experiences is what makes Arkentype a truly unique band.
